8 Foods That May Shrink Fibroids Naturally
- Ginger – This root has been used for centuries to heal and treat many ailments. It can improve circulation and reduce inflammation in the body. Ginger is also known as a natural muscle relaxer, so menstruation is a perfect time to add it.
- Turmeric – Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound that inhibits fibroid growth and can shrink existing fibroids. Boil the root to create a tea or add it to juices, soups, or stews. Consuming it along with black pepper helps to increase absorption.
- Ginger – At the time of this post, there isn’t any scientific evidence that ginger shrinks fibroids. However, there is lots of anecdotal evidence that using ginger can assist with a host of ailments, including uterine conditions and painful periods. This is likely due to its ability to help improve circulation and reduce inflammation.
- Wild Blueberries – These tiny berries contain an extremely high amount of antioxidants and help support liver function. Wild blueberries can be difficult to find, and I’ve yet to get my hands on any fresh ones. However, you can often find them in the frozen aisle. They make a great addition to smoothies.
- Parsley- Now might be a great time to start that herb garden to get your daily dose of parsley. Just two tablespoons of parsley contain 154% of your RDI of Vitamin K. This nutrient is key in blood clotting and can help reduce heavy bleeding that can come along with fibroids.
- Wild Caught Salmon– Note that this is WILD salmon. Farm-raised salmon isn’t the best option because those fish usually consume a corn and wheat mixture. Also, companies use dye to enhance the color presentation of the fish in stores. Salmon often receives praise for its high amount of Omega 3 fatty acids; however, it doesn’t get nearly enough praise for its high amount of B vitamins and selenium.
- Green tea– Some people believe you should avoid caffeine altogether if you have fibroids, but you may want to make green tea an exception. Green tea has an abundance of antioxidants, including EGCG, which may help inhibit tumor growth. One study suggests that EGCG may even help shrink fibroids.
- Fiber-rich foods– Foods like apples, carrots, and other high-fiber foods can help the body detoxify estrogen as well as toxins that may contribute to fibroids and fibroid symptoms. Consuming adequate amounts of fiber will also help reduce bloating.
